Funny or interesting
I know this is supposed to be funny. And I suppose it is. But I do things like this all the time. Sometimes you just need to get the job done. It's worked for me so far.
My golden retriever Darcy is just like this. Only there's no way he's giving up that stick.

1. slang US a person who swindles or deceives others
So this diatribe is about Senator Romney. But before we get to him, a little background is in order.
First, despite the efforts of the lame streamers, the goings-on in the Senate are not a trial. At least not in the way those of us who grew up on Perry Mason reruns understand the concept.
Per the Constitution “...the House of Representatives ‘shall have the sole Power of Impeachment’ (Article I, section 2) and‘the Senate shall have the sole Power to try all Impeachments … [but] no person shall be convicted without the Concurrence of two-thirds of the Members present’ (Article I, section 3)." The reasons to impeach are for 'Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.’
Lots of people yammer over just what's included in 'high Crimes and Misdemeanors' but they ignore the very important small qualifying words 'or other'. See, those two little words tell you that any other reason to impeach must be as equivalently pernicious as bribery (I assume either getting or giving.) or treason.
Nothing in the two articles of Impeachment delivered belatedly to the Senate from the Representatives can legally be considered as criminal, let alone treasonous. The Senate is therefore being required to 'judge' the relative levels of 'butthurt' experienced by the D-rats over the last 3.5 years of failure in being unable to remove Trump from office and legally keep him from reelection.
The D-rats know they have no case. But since they're already over there, they want to have the Senate call the witnesses that they couldn't bother to call themselves. But the problem is, since this isn't a real legal trial, the Senate isn't required to call any witnesses at all, because the D-rats were supposed to have done all that that already. In fact, Pelosi, Schiff and Nadler already called their submitted Impeachment evidence compelling and irrefutable. That being the case, the Senate is fully within it's rights to simply listen to the D-rat impeachment managers followed by the President's legal team rebuttals, ask a few questions from each party, and then call for a vote from the Senator-jury.
And that would be the best way to do this for the Country. Quick, complete, Constitutional, and done. So of course rather than that, it looks like the Senate will likely allow for more non-witnesses to be called, to describe events that they weren't at, and to repeat things that they didn't hear said, but which didn't occur.
No modern US criminal or civil court would allow this...but...well...A-holes.
Which brings us finally to Romney. At this time, there aren't enough (barely) Republican Senators to vote on the two articles of Impeachment without requiring additional witnesses. I mean sure, we already know Senators' Collins and Murkowski are political whores who are simply D-rats in drag. But Romney, the self-described conservative Senator from Utah is a special case of excrement. And Romney, a poster boy deep-stater hates Trump.
He probably always did. But occasionally the wind changed:
Now I know it's to be expected that politiians always speak with a forked tongue. But Romney speaks from both ends of his body. He's already suggested that he thinks calling more witnesses is a good idea, even though he knows that the President has commited no crime and that this is just another witch hunt by the D-rats. To damage the President is now what he lives for...or maybe there's something else driving him to damage a duly-elected President from his own party. Whatever. Romney is a UGA member plain and simple.
This week's humor piece is finally up. Ran a little late tonight because we had a visit from Orangejeepdad and family. Nice folks. Anyway, you'll find the new piece by clicking the link at the top of the page.
Don't recognize the name? You should. Read the article. And never forget him.
(Couple of edits. It was 4 years. Also, the article link is pretty even-handed. But here's a couple more links you should see:)

A perfectly reasonable summation:
A comment on my last post.
Daithi Dubh • 9 hours ago If Trumps is acquitted (a near certainty), there'll be continuing trouble. If Trump wins here in 2020 (another near certainty), then we still have trouble. And on, and on, and on . . .
Again, Trump, at best, buys us some time. Use it wisely, because the middle ground of compromise is nearly - if not already - gone. While those who regard infanticide as a right, along with the myriad other forms of tyranny they espouse as progress, should constitute a mission field for us, there is no dwelling together in amity within the same union.
Something to look forward to. Whee.
And yet more reasons you should buy my house
No. Really. If you're a New York resident you have to pay park and rec 30 bucks for a star gazing permit at local parks (60 bucks for out-of-Staters). Some say it's so that you can use the the parks after closing, but as one commenter pointed out. If you're allowed into the park after dark, it's not really closed, is it?
What could possibly be wrong with this?
Here at the ranch, we got one police force: the County Sheriff. He's a pretty nice guy. Had him at a couple of neighborhood barbecues. He and his deputies handle the law around here. But since we don't really have anything in the way of crime, and because each of my neighbors are 'well-heeled', I've only had to call for a deputy's help one time in sixteen years.
We spotted an unknown vehicle driving past our place during a potluck Friday. Since there were only three homes past us, and since one of those at the potluck was one of those home owners, and the other two home owners were not at home, we decided to check out the vehicle.
The 'Texan' and I grabbed a couple of force multipliers and headed out. (actually I grabbed mine. His was already in his truck.) The vehicle in question was parked next to my closest neighbor's house (We knew she was at work.) down a long driveway. We watched a guy carrying stuff out of the house repeatedly, so we put the truck across the drive way, called the Sheriff's office and waited. Took the deputy about 40 minutes to get there (It's a pretty big county.)
Turns out the guy at the house was just retrieving some things of his own (but he hadn't told the home owner he was coming.) and everyone was fine.
Point of this apparent digression is that we don't have enough cops to form a team that would be dedicated to investigating, well...us. And none of us believe in 'hate' crimes. I've yet to come across a criminal who loves their victim. I don't care in the slightest what your motivation is. If you do the crime, you should do the time.
Half way to what????
"Funded with a $2.3 million allocation from the Mayor's Office of Housing and Community Development and the Office of Transgender Initiatives, the 'Trans Home' on Washington Street will provide a 'safe shelter and supportive services for 13 new residents, who will share a three-story building with 13 bedrooms, three kitchens and a common living space,' according to the report."
Sooner or later I'll write my piece here on Transanity. But for the moment:
You should buy my house.
Yup. Just a boring day. I have a big order to go out before the end of January, so I spent a large part of my day in the shop. Should be pretty busy for at least the next month. All for the good, because Jan-Mar is usually my slow time income-wise. I've also got a couple of articles to finish up for Backwoods home magazine.
Because I'm something of a news junky, I normally wear a pair of radio headphones while I work. My normal listening schedule is Rush Limbaugh from 9 to noon, Hannity from noon to three and Buck Sexton from three to whenever.
But today I skipped my usual programs and listened to a couple of audio books instead; "The American Revolution part 1 read by the incomparable George C. Scott and just for fun; Monkey Business, a book about the pre-fab four of my youth.
So why the change? In a word: Impeachment.
I'm sincerely sick and tired of this whole thing and I think I can safely say that I share this feeling with a majority of the American public.
And that's a shame and quite worrisome.
For four weeks, the completed non-criminal articles of impeachment, which were slammed together from the testimony of second and third hand 'witnesses' about the mysterious content of a phone call (The transcript of which is available online) were held up. Pelosi finally delivered this stinking ball of innuendo, hearsay and bald-face lies to the Senate because keeping it on her desk, after declaring that it's creation was a national emergency, was actually making her look like the doufus she truly is.
And for the last two days, the forsworn Schiff channeled Satan channeling John Adams as he described a litany of evil and traitorous behavior by a high government official: a list that he is intimately familiar with, because it's his own Curriculum Vite.
Even I, news junky that I am, can take no more. My only immediate lament is that the days of horse-whipping have ended. On a longer timeline, I'm extremely worried about the world that's ahead. The certain not-guilty vote that's coming in the Senate doesn't end anything. President Trump will simply hit back harder. And a whole bunch of replicrats will soon find themselves forced to defend themselves, their family, and friends for the literally billions of dollars they've scammed from the public trough for many years though shady foreign and domestic sweetheart deals.
And these people who will kill to keep their ill-gotten gain.
It's going to get very very bumpy soon.
This is how you do it.
Just a couple of things to add here: Kaepernick was born to a white mother. His dead-beat black sperm donor left her before he was born. Kaepernick was given up for adoption to a white couple who's last name he bears. He was raised in a solidly middle class home and attended college on a football scholarship at the University of Nevada, Reno. Kaepernick maintained a 4.0 grade point average during his college years and graduated in 2011 with a bachelor's degree in business management.
No point in getting into why he turned into such a baby. He is what he is. But I got to say that a 4.0 in college and a bachelor's degree apparently doesn't mean that he learned anything.
Colin. The people of Iran are Persians. They are not black or brown. Ethnographers classify the Persian people as Aryan. One of their principle ancestral origin points was the Caucus mountains. (Read that as where the word Caucasian come from.) General Soleimani was not an Arab. He was not black or brown. If you want to get into color, I suppose you could say that the white Soleimani was executed by the orange Trump. Hope that helps.
And finally, for the youngsters - past and future - who tell me that I just don't understand what it's like to be a youth in today's world...
There's a new humor piece up that can be accessed by hitting the 'current humor piece' button link above. It's called "Butterflies and Blizzards"
Just a little disclaimer first. Yes, Patrice and I are selling our house. And yes, we'd love to have one of our readers buy it. But despite the headline above, the story I'm highlighting below isn't really about our selling. They're about you starting to think long and hard about getting out of Dodge while you can. Trump isn't your savior. He's just holding back the tide and giving you time. But he can't do it forever. And when he leaves office, the pendulum is going to swing hard. So, if N. Idaho isn't your cup of tea, that's O.K. There are a lot of other places where like-minded folk can find neighbors and friends who will stand together in the face of the coming storm. But if you're not there, you won't make it.
And now, a new reason why you should ...buy my house!
I don't know if this woman has a chance. Used to be I'd say not a snowballs chance. But...AOC, Ilhan Abdullahi Omar and Rashida Tlaib have convinced me that being 'openly socialist' and 'militantly Islamic' have become career enhancers in some parts of these Divided States. And being socialist or Islamic means that it is impossible to support and defend the Constitution of the United States of America.
The oath of office for a Congress person goes as follows:
The Congressional Oath of Office:
I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God.
This means that the congress-critters mentioned above and a large majority of their fellows are liars and oath-breakers. They are forsworn. They deserve nothing but contempt.
If you live in and around New York, Minnesota, Michigan or Massachusetts one of these members of 'the squad' is supposed to represent you. And if it's not one of them, there's still a good chance that your representative is every bit as evil. You're not going to change your State.
Change your location. Soon.
On the 20th of this month, we'll see something amazing. The Virginia Citizens Defense League (VCDL) will be hosting a gathering of like-minded people from across the state and the nation in the Capitol Square of Richmond. My guess is that many thousands will be there.
In opposition to this gathering will be a much smaller group of filthy traitors and petty tyrants who believe that an armed citizenry is a danger to opportunistic despots (Can't actually blame them for that; they're right.) led by Governor Step'n'fetchit Northam. (In the photo to the left, he's the guy in shoe polish. The guy on the right is just another Democrat.)
Reports are that Governor Buckwheat plans to declare a “temporary emergency,” in and around the capitol, thus allowing him to prohibit guns, as well as all other weapons and defensive armor from Capitol Square during the rally. Now obviously this ban doesn't apply to the Governor's bodyguards.
This 'temporary' emergency action will work in concert with new legislation passed on Friday, Jan. 10, which banned firearms in the capitol building, and in legislative offices. (again, except for their guards). House Majority Leader Charniele Herring said the ban was passed based on recommendations by the Capitol Police. "...and I think there are times when we sort of have to trust what our law enforcement officers are telling us.” Of course, being a politician, That claim was a lie (surprise). When asked, Capitol Police Chief Anthony Pike said that he had made no recommendations on whether guns should be banned.
Pretty sure that the gathering of the 20th will be panned by the government media. So be sure to keep an eye out on what goes down at more trustworthy news sites. It will be very interesting to see what happens if 20,000 or so citizens show up with rifles on their shoulders. Might not happen. But if it doesn't happen this time...well, sooner or later it will.
And perhaps the crowd will be able to cajole the Governor into singing a few songs, like the Camp Town Ladies or Ol' Man River.
